BB3 08The Beast has (over time) seven different heads. The seven heads are the same as the seven mountains that the Whore sits on (Revelation 17:9)

They are kings (or kingdoms). "Five are fallen (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and Greece); one is (Rome, at the time the book was written); and the other is not yet come (the coming world empire)." (Revelation 17:10)

The Beast, like the Whore, represents a spiritual force present in all the empires of history.  Yet the Beast is also described as a horn (or king) on one of its own heads; the seventh head or final world empire.

In other words, a final king will arise who will personify the spirit of all these previous kingdoms.  The Bible says that he "shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition". (Revelation 17:8)   He is sometimes called the Antichrist (1 John 2:18) or the Man of Sin (2 Thessalonians 2:3).  This final king gains control of the alliance that is to become the final world empire.  But under his control it only lasts for a short while before Christ (the Lamb) returns to overthrow it. (Revelation 17:12-14)

The Beast and the Whore together represent the spirit of Babylon throughout the ages.  But there is also, in these last days, a final more specific representation of them both, with one destroying the other: "The ten hornsŠ hate the Whore and make her desolate and naked, and eat her flesh and burn her with fire.  For God has put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and to give their kingdom unto the Beast." (Revelation 17:16-17)  So the Alliance is going to destroy the Whore.  But who (or what) is the Whore today?

East and West

BB3 09
The world has, since the fall of Rome, been divided into East and West, characterised by communist Russia/China and capitalist America/Britain.

Russia's symbol is a red bear.  America's symbol is an eagle.  China's symbol is a dragon, and Britain's is a lion.

Daniel had another dream about world empires which involved animal symbols.
Babylon was described as a lion with eagle's wings.  As he watched, the eagle's wings were "plucked". (Daniel 7:3-4)

He saw the Persian Empire, represented by a bear, with three ribs in its teeth as it arose to "devour much flesh". (Daniel 7:5)

The Greek Empire was symbolised by a leopard or panther (the modern symbol of the African nations), and the Roman Empire was described as an impersonal machine, which developed 10 horns, just like the 10 horns mentioned in The Revelation in reference to the final world empire. (Daniel 7:6-7)

Is it just a coincidence that the symbols for these past empires are also the symbols for the various world powers of today?  The link between the Roman Empire and the coming world empire is obviously more than coincidence, because the same words that Daniel uses to describe the Roman Empire are used in The Revelation to describe the final world power. (Daniel 7:7-8 and Revelation 13:1)

It would appear that we have present in the world today all of the spirits of these other past empires; and it would also appear that they may all be returning to centre stage for the grand finale of human history.

In Revelation 13, the red Beast (cf. Revelation 17:3) is described in detail. It is like a leopard, with the feet (support?) of a bear and the mouth (language?) of a lion.  Its power comes from a red dragon, which is the Devil. (Revelation 13:2; Revelation 12:9)  The leopard, bear, and lion are part of the Beast; but no mention is made of the eagle, part of Daniel's symbol for Babylon.  Instead, Daniel says the eagle wings were "plucked".  When this happened, the creature ceased to be an animal and became human. (Daniel 7:4)

The Revelation says that the Beast will, with the help of the Alliance, destroy the Whore, whose name is Babylon. (Revelation 17:16-17)  If Babylon is destroyed, it makes sense that the eagle will be too.

The destruction of the Whore is described in the 18th chapter of The Revelation.  It says the kings, merchants, and shipping companies of the earth will all mourn the passing of the Whore, because they all enjoyed prosperity by "committing fornication" with her.BB3 10

What country dominates world trade today?  What world power symbolises capitalism?   What is the richest country in the world today?  And what country is represented by an eagle?

The Beast (communism?) receives a "deadly wound" from which it miraculously recovers (Revelation 13:3) before it actually destroys the Whore. Technically it then becomes Babylon; but it has little need for the tactics of the Whore.  This is because the final Beast is the personification of Evil.  He blasphemes all that is sacred.  He exalts himself above God. (Revelation 13:5-7)  He no longer needs (or wishes) to wear a mask of goodness or respectability.

The Whore differs from the Beast in that she pretends to offer something spiritual (love) when all she really wants is your money.  Such hypocrisy is the trademark of America arguably the most religious country on earth today; and indisputably the greediest.

Communism makes no such pretence of being spiritual.  The Whore is like a mask. She "sits on" the Beast; but the Beast actually hates her, because he wants to be able to openly flaunt his evil.  And he is finally able to do this in the last few years of human history. (Revelation 13:5)

One of the great themes of The Revelation is that Satan is the prince of this world. (John 12:31, John 14:30, John 16:11 and Ephesians 2:2)  James taught that anyone who makes themselves the friend of this world makes themselves the enemy of God. (James 4:4) He called such behaviour spiritual adultery.

The church is not prepared to openly worship Satan, but it will prostitute itself to the system in order to make money.  The Whore represents the unholy alliance between the Church and the State.  And all for the filthy purpose of making money. (Titus 1:11)

Jesus said we cannot serve two masters (Luke 16:13).  He did not draw the line between God and the devil. (Few would admit to being devil worshippers!) But he drew the line between God and money.

When we defend money, defend Caesar, defend war, defend the system, defend the rich, we are defending the Beast that is behind it all, and the Devil that is behind the Beast.  And this is spiritual adultery or fornication.
