However, God's judgment is tempered with mercy. And he puts a lot of emphasis on how much we know (since he cannot be outsmarted with a false claim of ignorance).

BB4 16Paul said of some Greek idol-worshippers, that God had overlooked their ignorance for many years. (Acts 17:30)

Of course when Paul finished his sermon, they were no longer ignorant; so they had to answer for what they had just heard. Jesus said, "To whom much is given, much shall be required." (Luke 12:48)

On the whole, it is more appropriate for us to be harsher in our judgment of the "Christian" churches, which have the teachings of Christ, and which claim to believe Christ is the Son of God, than we would be in our judgment of pagan religions. And that is the approach we will take in the remainder of this booklet, as we look at various false beliefs.
